Hey put that pitchfork down before you take someone’s eye out. No GTA V hasn’t been cancelled on PC and isn’t likely to be cancelled either.
The Internet erupted this morning when an unknown site, foxweekly, posted up an exclusive with the GTA V marketing company, Rantic, where the Chairman of the company apparently let slip some damning information.
According to John Hoffberger, as I like to call him “The Hoff”
“The next-gen console launch dates are still intact, but the PC game launch has been agitating for Rockstar staff”
and
“Rockstar never wanted to release a PC version of GTA V, but due to high public demand, they were forced to do so”
They then linked to the official Rantic website which appears to have been hacked by 4chan. So two huge things make this an obvious fake. Firstly no marketing company would ever risk their entire company’s reputation by leaking this sort of information to a no-name website and even if they were so incompetent they wouldn’t even know if it was about to be cancelled.
Rockstar are one of the most secretive developers on the planet and the last person who would be given an insight into development issues would be a small marketing company hired to do a bit of work somewhere. Not to mention that Rantic’s website has been down for over a year and the most recent use of the domain was for a pretty awful recording company’s website called Rantic Records.
While we can’t 100% confirm that the PC version isn’t cancelled we can say with 99.99% confidence that the reports of it being cancelled are fake and simply made to drag unwitting traffic into someone’s site. There is absolutely no logical reason why the PC version would be struggling in development either since all games are made on PC and ported to consoles. So seriously, put that pitchfork down.
